Real-time Inventory Tracking with Smartphones and IP Cameras
The original pricing inspection process involved manual checks, restricting the capability to scan multiple items at once. This limitation, along with the potential for products to be placed incorrectly, posed difficulties for new employees who were not yet familiar with product locations and pricing. Moreover, the supermarket chain sought to ensure that shelves remained fully stocked at all times to satisfy customer needs.
Solution
Overcoming Misplaced Stock, Inventory Shortages, and Novice Staff Errors:
Using Vision Prime Software(VPS), an AI model was developed to quickly identify different brands and differentiate products within the same brand. This capability allowed for the accurate verification of product placement on shelves and correct pricing, ensuring prompt restocking and aiding new employees with customer inquiries.
In this particular case, a smartphone was used for inspections, but VPS is adaptable enough to work with IP cameras for continuous 24/7 monitoring. This setup enables real-time alerts to prevent stockouts, ensuring that shelves remain consistently well-stocked.
