To avoid redundancy in defect detection, each bolt had to be examined individually from three distinct angles. Given the high production volume, the customer needed the inspection process to be completed within one second per bolt, ensuring a minimum accuracy rate of 90%. This task was further complicated by the reflective surfaces of the bolts, as light reflections could be mistakenly identified as defects.

Athis developed a robot-assisted system that rotates each bolt 360 degrees, capturing three images to detect any defects. To overcome the challenges posed by reflective surfaces, an AI model in AthisVision was trained, and our engineers advised the customer on optimal lighting and background conditions to minimize reflections.
