Amongst those are some of the biggest players in the space, including\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/uber-ceo-flying-cars-only-decade-away\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Uber<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2018-03-01\/boeing-is-getting-ready-to-sell-flying-taxis-within-a-decade\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Boeing<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/airbus-electric-flying-taxis-are-set-to-take-to-the-skies-next-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Airbus<\/a>. Delegates from each group member will meet on August 29 to figure out a plan that will get flying cars to Japan in the next decade.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A GOVERNMENT LEADER.<\/strong>\u00a0While not everyone(see:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/5-elon-musk-flying-cars-are-definitely-not-the-future-of-transport\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Elon Musk<\/a>) is on board with the idea of flying cars, if the futuristic transportation is ever going to take off, it\u2019ll likely need a government leading the charge, and Japan appears ready to step up on that front.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s necessary for the government to take a lead and coordinate on setting safety standards,\u201d Yasuo Hashimoto, a researcher at Tokyo-based Japan Aviation Management Research,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2018-08-24\/uber-airbus-are-said-to-be-enlisted-in-japan-s-flying-car-plan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told\u00a0<em>Bloomberg<\/em><\/a>. \u201cThey are trying to set a tone for the industry ahead of other countries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ll see if Japan is able to meet its ambitious goal of serving as the world leader in flying cars.
